SUMMARY:ONLINE WORKSHOP: California’s End of Life Option Act: What to Expect
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCalifornia’s End of Life Option Act: What to Expect \nDate: Thursday\, August 20\, 2026Time: 12:00pm-1:00pmLocation: Online via ZoomRSVP: Form below \n\nCalifornia’s End of Life Option Act is a law that allows eligible adults with a terminal illness and life expectancy of 6 months or less\, the legal right to request and self-administer a medication to end their life in a peaceful and dignified manner at a time of their choosing. \nConsidering California’s End of Life Option Act (Medical Aid in Dying) can bring up many questions. This workshop provides a compassionate\, practical overview of what it is actually like to navigate the process—from determining eligibility and making the required requests to understanding the timeline\, assessing symptoms along the way\, and deciding whether this option is right for you. We’ll also discuss how and when the medication is typically taken\, what the final day may look like\, and how patients and families can prepare emotionally and practically. Designed for individuals living with serious illness and their loved ones\, this presentation offers real-world guidance to help you make informed decisions with greater clarity and confidence. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker: Amy Yoffe\, LCSW is a hospice social worker and psychotherapist who has specialized in end-of-life care since 2006. In addition to her private practice\, where she provides psychotherapy for individuals facing serious illness\, grief\, caregiving\, and anticipatory loss\, Amy provides bedside clinical support to patients and families through the final stages of life. She has extensive experience guiding individuals and their loved ones through California’s End of Life Option Act (Medical Aid in Dying)\, helping them navigate the emotional\, relational\, and practical aspects of this deeply personal decision with compassion and respect. Amy received her Master of Social Work degree from UCLA in 1995. \n\n\n\n\nZoom link provided upon registration. \n\n\nDownload the flyer here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n 8/20 California’s End of Life Option Act: What to Expect Workshop\n \n \n Personal InformationName(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Phone(Required)How did you hear about this workshop?(Required)\n \n CSC Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara’s Weekly Newsletter “Community Connect”\n \n \n CSC Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara’s Website\n \n \n Social Media\n \n \n Doctor’s Office\n \n \n Community Center\n \n \n Friend/Family\n \n \n Volunteer/Staff Member\n \n \n Other\n \n \n Cancer Support Community South Bay\n \n \n Cancer Support Community Los Angeles\n \n \n Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley\n Additional Program InformationThe following information will ONLY be used for funding purposes and program assessment with NO identifying information.Zip Code(Required)I am a(Required)Person who has cancerPerson who had cancerSupport person/family memberBereaved person (who has lost a loved one to cancer)Healthcare professionalOtherGender Identity(Required)ManNonbinaryTransmanTranswomanWomanOtherRace/Ethnicity(Required)\n \n Asian/Pacific Islander\n \n \n Black/African American (non-Hispanic)\n \n \n Black-Hispanic\n \n \n American Indian/Alaska Native/First Nations\n \n \n White-Hispanic\n \n \n White (non-Hispanic)\n \n \n Other\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n
