DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\nBiomedical Aspects of Cancer- 101 \n\nDate: Thursday\, July 18th\, 2024Time: 12:00 – 1:15 pmLocation: ONLINE (Zoom)RSVP: Click here \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshop Description: \n\nThis Workshop provides a high-level overview of medical aspects of cancer\, including cancer epidemiology\, risk factors\, prevention and screening\, symptoms\,  and diagnosis/staging/prognosis. It also provides information concerning cancer surgery\, radiation therapy\, chemotherapy\, and other systemic therapies. Finally it will briefly discuss cultural/diversity issues\, survivorship\, advanced disease/end-of-life care\, and unique challenges of younger and older cancer patient populations.  \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter: \n\nDr. Deane Wolcott is an emeritus attending\, Department of Psychiatry\, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He spent the last 26 years of his career leading the development of oncology supportive care services at Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Cancer Center and a total of 19 other outpatient hospital cancer centers throughout the US managed by Salick Health Care/Aptium Oncology. He has held leadership roles in the American Psychosocial Oncology Society\, and has for many years been an actively involved supporter of the Cancer Support Community.
