Workshop Description:
Join us to learn about multiple myeloma treatment and have your questions ready for a Q&A after
the workshop. The workshop will provide updates regarding the monitoring and treatment of the
second most common blood-cased cancer called multiple myeloma. Despite major advances in
therapy, the disease remains incurable. New blood tests have become available recently that allow
quicker determination of changes in the clinical status of patients and can find disease that was
previously not detectable. Many new treatments are available mostly involving targeting the tumor
cells while at the same time boosting the immune system’s ability to knock out the myeloma. Other
new, effective treatments have been identified that provide novel approaches to treating myeloma
effectively and safely.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Berenson has specialized in the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma, MGUS,
amyloidosis, Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia and metastatic bone disease as well as conducting
research related to these disease both in the basic and clinical areas for more than 30 years. He has
been involved in many of the major breakthroughs that have brought new treatments for patients
with these diseases resulting in both an improvement in the length and quality of their lives.
