Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC), also known as lobular breast cancer, is the 2nd most common type of breast cancer. It makes up 15% of all breast cancer diagnoses and the sixth most frequently diagnosed cancer of women in the US. Navigating such a diagnosis can be daunting, however you are not alone. Meet others living with ILC, share experiences, and access helpful resources and support on Global Lobular Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Light lunch will be provided.

Host:

Janet Lapins is a passionate healthcare and community advocate for over 40 years. Her personal experience surviving multiple cancers and determination to understand and improve healthcare ultimately led her to become a dedicated advocate for patients with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). Her research on ILC led her to discover and join the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA). Janet’s ILC knowledge and advocacy work with Cancer Support Community led to her nomination and election to the Los Robles Hospital Cancer Community Advisory Board. Today, Janet combines decades of advocacy experience with her personal ILC journey to raise awareness, advance research, improve understanding of lobular breast cancer, and help ensure that ILC patients are heard, informed, and empowered.
